Dana Wortman

Dana Wortman, Iowa Attorney

Dana is a native of Earlham, Iowa, and she is thrilled to now be back in Dallas County providing estate planning, estate administration, and tax preparation services to clients at The Law Shop. In fact, Dana loves TAXES! Unusual? You bet! But Dana knows that every tax return tells a story and The Law Shop is all about helping you write your own story. From current family composition and lifestyle to future plans such as wishes for loved ones and good causes, Dana enjoys welcoming clients to The Shop and answering their questions about those two things we’re all guaranteed in life – death and taxes!

Dana’s legal practice areas closely mirror her personal values with family being her own top priority. Dana and her husband, Dr. William (“Will”) Wortman, MD, Internal Medicine Specialist, were married in 2011. Their son Zieger, born in 2014, is on the Autism Spectrum, which Will and Dana manage as a team with ample portions of love and good-hearted humor. Zieger brings light to their lives daily. Dana and Will also parent a spirited German Shepherd named Kira. Summertime in the Wortman family means plenty of time together on the boat or the beach at Lake Okoboji. Closer to home, Dana loves yoga, watercolor painting, cooking, and canning homemade marinara sauce and salsa from delicious fresh garden tomatoes.

“When I came to Amy her law partner described her as ‘smart and ethical.’ To that, now, I would have to add some additional things. First, she has a spirit of fun that was really nice to have along the way. It extends from her sense of humor to her love of ‘artsy and weird.’ Most important, though, I would add that she has a genuine spirit of humanness. She helped me stay (get back) on an even keel and do the right thing that I really wanted to do all along. With her straightforward tact and sympathetic understanding and knowledge she was able to ease my ‘scares’ and concerns. She displayed humor, honesty, dignity, humility and compassion during the whole ordeal. Once again my most sincere thanks and I thank Amy for being a ‘friend’ through it all.  She beautifully handled my case not once but twice and is now my dear friend.  I will forever cherish our friendship.” - Debbie
"We have been really impressed with how fast and efficient Amy is with getting our adoption hearings scheduled and finalized.  It is clear that she makes her clients a priority and knows how important our Adoption Days have been to our family!”  ~Jake Skurdal
“Definitely would say Andrea was a great lawyer and was there anytime we had questions/concerns. Everything we needed done was done, and we couldn’t have asked for a smoother, painless process. We did and still do appreciate the time she put into our situation and making our dreams come true about us finally becoming a family!!” – Melissa and Joe
"We contacted The Law Shop after a referral from a friend. We were looking for a slight modification. The Law Shop worked well for our needs, and we are very pleased. We will definitely call them again if needed." – Respectfully, Ryan & Mary
